Footage, links and licences
Your clips come first. Free archives fill the gaps, and every clip is checked for its licence and for watermarks.

Where footage comes from
- Your videos: added in Auto Video, the New project wizard or Editor → Media.
- Links: YouTube or any site yt-dlp supports. Paste several at once; each is checked first for title, creator, licence and size. Playlists and live streams are refused.
- Free search: YouTube (Creative Commons only), Wikimedia Commons and NASA are on by default. Internet Archive is opt-in.
Licence check
The licence is read from each source page and read again before downloading. Only public domain, CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA clips are used; NonCommercial and NoDerivatives are skipped. A credits.txt file lists every clip, author and licence.
Watermark and overlay check
Every downloaded clip is scanned. Clips with a watermark, a channel logo, burned-in titles or subtitles, a Subscribe button, a QR code or a timecode are thrown out.
From clips to shots
Each source is cut into shots of 5 seconds or less and scored for sharpness, motion and exposure. Then each sentence of your script gets the shot that matches it best, judged by an AI that looks at the pictures.
No shot fits a sentence? A scene image is drawn instead. See Scene images.
